Balancing Life and Law
Matt also spends his free time involved in a wide variety of youth sports programs, coaching and taking his daughters to practices and competitions across the state and helping them pursue their passion for swimming, tennis and basketball.
Matt graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law.  During law school, he was selected as a member of the school’s moot court team and was elected by his peers to serve as a representative on the school’s student bar association. After graduating with honors, Matt was commissioned as a military officer and served nearly two decades as an active duty attorney in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During his military career, Matt served in assignments around the globe, assisting military members and their families in overcoming a variety of legal challenges.  As a military defense counsel, he represented and fought for service members in over 150 felony-level trials and other administrative proceedings, protecting his clients’ rights and obtaining positive outcomes in the most complex criminal cases in the Air Force.
In 2025, Matt transitioned away from the active duty military and to civilian legal practice in the beautiful State of Colorado. He brings with him extensive negotiation, litigation and trial advocacy skills and the same mission-focused mentality that helped him succeed as a military attorney. Matt has significant experience guiding clients through the most challenging of legal circumstances and stands ready to guide you through the family law process and achieve the best possible outcome for you and your family.
